McLouth was founded in the 1880s. It was named for Amos McLouth, the original owner of the town site. The first post office in McLouth was established in May 1882.

We had a railroad that ran right through the middle of town. The tracks are the dividing point for the north side and south side of town. Look for the Historical sign showing where the split is at.

McLouth USD 342 is a highly accredited school district. All 3 schools, High School, Middle School and Elementary centrally located making the commute to games and activities easy on everyone. We are proud to announce the 2021 and 2022 1A-4A State Marching Band Champions: The McLouth Marching Band! We have great teachers that care about the kids and their future! 

Rose Park is the home of a challenging Disk Golf course along with actitivies for the kids. We also have 2 additional parks for your enjoyment.
